The Power of Why

Wednesday, April 8, 2015 - Joe Kiedinger

Why do you do what you do? Why is your process set up the way it is? Why does what I do matter? “Why?” is a powerful question that needs to be answered.

I must admit, I need to remind myself to take a step back and let the people I lead know WHY what they do matters and WHY they matter! It’s not good enough to help a person identify the need of their job role in big picture of the company’s vision. To really lead someone, you must let them know why they matter.

How do they make that role so successful in the big picture? What are the gifts they possess that gives them an edge in that role? People must get credit for what they do AND for who they are. I’m not perfect at it, but I remind myself often to do this with those I lead. Green and growing!
