Employee Engagement in 2 Little Words: “I care.”

Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - Joe Kiedinger

People don’t care about what you know, until they know first that you care. I may not remember what you did or didn’t do, but I will never forget how you made me feel.

Here at Prophit Marketing, we work with companies across the country on employee engagement. We’ve even invented and patented an employee talent management software that does one thing – shows people that you care!

We have saved companies tens of thousands (and in some cases millions) of dollars in turnover by teaching this basic concept. The challenge of how you care for people changes for each person, but even though there are changes, there are also three fundamental needs all humans have:

1) To be heard

2) Your time: One-on-One time with their leader to connect

3) Appreciation

Start with these three basic focal points and you will see a more engaged employee.

ACTION PLAN: Pick one person a week that you lead or who is in your support network and sit down with them. Listen to their ideas and give them appreciation for something they did because of the person they are. Relationships are built in moments, not long periods of time.
