Whatever Happened to Class?

Wednesday, September 27, 2017 - Joe Kiedinger

Being a kid born in the 70’s, I remember the cartoon “Fat Albert.” There was a saying that one of the kids would say after a character did something that was not very dignifying. It went like this…

“Russell, you remind me of a Thanksgiving Vacation…. No Class!”

I think to be true Servant Leader, you need to lead with some class. Now, I’m not saying one should avoid having a sense of humor or act stiff and serious. You must be authentic, and you must have class.

I think of celebrities who presented themselves with real class: Sammy Davis Jr., Roger Moore, Audrey Hepburn and Frank Sinatra. I was recently listening to a live recording of a show he performed. He always presented humor and fun in a classy way.

It’s with the recent news of professional athletes and government officials behavior that inspired today’s topic.

Here’s to ‘Class’ and all who participate in it!

ACTION PLAN: Thank someone this week who has true class!
