The Overconfidence Effect
Tuesday, July 12, 2022 - Joe Kiedinger
Know a know-it-all? Someone who ignores warnings because they feel they know better? Who cannot admit their wrongs? Who evokes conflict and creates an “us versus them” mentality? Who brushes off criticism because they feel they know better?
Then, you just may live or work with someone experiencing the Dunning-Kruger Effect. This cognitive bias is the polar opposite of Imposter Syndrome, a very common psychological state in which people doubt their accomplishments and feel like a fraud.
In this podcast, Joe and April will help you identify the signs of the Dunning-Kruger Effect and discuss the tools to reduce its hold: the three sieves, rumble language and emotional intelligence.
