The Days of Our Lives

Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - Joe Kiedinger

I grew up hating soap operas. I remember as a kid, when I was sick, dreading the sound of soap operas. There was no cable TV. After the PBS shows were over, mom changed the channel. She always had the TV on while she was busy going through her day, perhaps simply for the background noise.

Days of Our Lives aired at noon, right during lunch. The hourglass would appear and that announcer would say, “like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.”

Yes they are. Tic-Toc, time is passing quickly! So, what are you doing with your time? You’ve been to a beach before. What makes a beach great? It’s the sand. Without sand, there is no beach. Each sand grain multiplied by billions makes up a beach. Same with time. Each minute you spend pushing to improve yourself and others adds to your beach.

Each person you decide to reach out to and serve, adds to your beach. Moment by moment makes up a life. Meaningful moments makes up a GREAT life. Don’t give up, stay the course, care deeply and serve often. You will wake up one day to an amazing sight. The people you helped who look back at you with a big “Thank you”. That’s your beach. Along the way money will follow. Because the more you care for others, the more good fortune will shine upon you.
