No VACANCY!
Wednesday, January 8, 2020 - Joe Kiedinger
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I offer a Daily Cup of Joe Monday through Friday. It’s intended to give you a little jolt of inspiration to begin your day. I would like to expand on my post from yesterday.
Picture your brains as being made up of a series of hotel rooms. Let’s pretend you only have 30 rooms available. In one room is your best friend, in another are your kids. Another houses your closest friends and on and on.
Often, we allow people who believe they are our critics (which they’re not) to occupy one of our rooms. We take their opinions to heart and it makes us feel uncomfortable and undignified. This creates images in our imagination that get exaggerated. We write our own endings and keep focusing on these negative thoughts.
Learn how to say NO VACANCY! No room for you at this inn! These individuals don’t have the right to occupy any of your energy. It’s like allowing a rowdy rock band to trash the place.
You control who and what occupy your rooms. It’s the events that we can do nothing about that seem to stress us out the most. Lock the door, hang the sign and only allow those who bring value to your life to rent.
