Impromptus are the BEST!

Wednesday, August 5, 2015 - Joe Kiedinger

I recently returned back from a week long business trip in Dallas with my son Alex, who attended a trade show with me. The show was over on Friday at 3:00 p.m so we loaded up our booth and supplies in a rented Jeep Grand Cherokee, and began the eighteen hour road trip back home to Green Bay. We contemplated driving for five hours and then getting a hotel room, however, we decided to drive in shifts and head straight home.

This decision allowed him to get to his motorcycle faster and it allowed me to head up north and surprise my wife and three daughters at the Spirit River Association annual picnic. The weather all weekend was beautiful, except for the twenty minutes of hail we received. By Sunday I wasn’t ready to leave and I talked Danica into staying and driving back early Monday morning.

We woke up early on Monday preparing to head back. I looked at my calendar to double check my schedule and noticed that through the course of the week, all of my meetings had been cancelled. Danica, my wife, said, “take a mental health day and hang out with the girls.” I did just that. This picture was taken at around 9:30 a.m. when we all had a tomato juice cocktail and were about to play one of our favorite card games on the deck.

The day ended up being a series of tournaments jumping from TOK, the card game, to croquet. We played all day long together, just daddy and his girls, arriving back home around 8:30 p.m. What a great day! Impromptus are the best!

ACTION PLAN: How do you plan for an Impromptu? I guess you can plan to just “go with it” when the opportunity presents itself.
