A Beautiful Training!

Well, I experienced a first. Last week I had the honor of being asked to facilitate a portion of a company’s off-site. The location was Port Aransas, the Eastern most side of what is most commonly known as Padre Island in South Texas. This group of directors held their annual off-site meeting on the balcony of a beach house, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Breathtaking!
What I learned from this is the power of letting your hair down. The atmosphere was casual and creative and some leaders were barefoot while others dressed in sweatshirts. It was an atmosphere that promoted high creativity and healthy debate. Our host did a fantastic job of listening to the group and boiling the conversations down into understood ideas that could be executed.
There really is no wrong way to get things done. While all companies cannot make this type of arrangement productive, this company achieved great results. I applaud these leaders as they found the fun while getting great things done and appreciate them including me in this experience!
