It’s Actually Quite Simple
Wednesday, July 8, 2020 - Joe Kiedinger
With National Simplicity Day coming up this weekend, I’ve been doing some pondering on the topic.
I believe that all people and all situations are much simpler than we make them out to be. It’s our brains that do the busy-work in the background—making assumptions and placing judgment. Often, we make things more complicated than they really are. What if it’s not that complicated?
Fundamentally, we all want to be respected. So, how do we go about respecting others? It starts with listening and learning. When we take the time to listen to each person’s unique story, we can learn how they like to be treated and then… do it!
We don’t need a big script to effectively communicate with others, we need an open ear and some empathy.

ACTION PLAN: Don’t overthink it this week. Just listen, learn and keep it simple.
