Give the Gift of Time!

Relationship marketing is now the buzz word in understanding your clients and building a relationship. It began with Thought Leadership. Own a subject, share your knowledge and then the receiver begins feeling a relationship with you as the source for this solution. I would like to focus this WOW on building meaningful relationships.
One-on-one is the only way to build meaningful relationships. At work, it may seem nearly impossible (if you lead many people) to have that kind of time. We think that group meetings are more efficient.
Group meetings can be great to share information, and manage a department,
but these meetings do not build one-to-one relationships or influence.
You do not need to schedule an hour with every person you lead, however, you could have daily huddle-ups. Short, 10-15 minutes, start your day right, coffee chats to begin your week. Have your people rotate. You can also visit their desks and share something your proud of them for accomplishing the week prior. This can be a few short
minutes. Frequent, short and positive interactions are the key to building loyalty and trust over time. Great leaders share what’s going well, and then what can be improved.
The same is true for your own family. Danica and I have coffee talk at least five days a week. I carve out one-on-one time with each of my precious children. You can do it too! Be aware, make it short, but meaningful. You would be amazed at how much time you will have left over and you’ll feel good in the process. Better relationships, better life!
