Make It Grand!

Where was I? What type of room would you say this picture depicts? It was built in 1891. Notice the chandelier (it’s two stories) and the ornate metal work. Would you believe this is the original Macro Brewery for Budweiser? I must admit I am not a Bud fan. Miller is my macro beer of choice.
I was recently giving a presentation on dignity for a company in St. Louis, MO. They invited me on the brewery tour. The tour guide informed us that as Adolphus Busch was building this brewery for his national beer, he wanted it to feel grand. What a vision!
How do you think it made his brewers feel when they entered th
is environment to go to work? Especially at the turn of the century when most factories were sweat shops with little focus on employee work conditions. To me, that’s a true innovator and a great leader.
A few companies have received accolades for their employee environments: Google, Zappos and Apple, to name a few. We recently moved an entire department to a different section of our building. We gave them the keys to arrange and decorate as they saw fit from office furniture to paint. It is about 80% complete and is looking great!
Employee work environment is critical for a great customer experience. Because employees who feel comfortable produce great work.
Cheers!
