Leaders Can Shape Company Culture Through Their Behaviors
Wednesday, July 5, 2017 - Joe Kiedinger
Happy 4th of July holiday week everyone! I love patriotism! America, the brave, the true and apple pie, baseball and lemonade and all that cool American stuff. I don’t take our freedom for granted. Anyone reading this who has served in the armed forces I give you a heartfelt, thank you! You have created a culture of patriotism through your selfless service. We are indebted to you.
Like our military hero’s have created national pride, company leaders can shape company culture through their behavior. When the leaders emulate and display the behaviors that are desired, others will fall in suit.
Reversely, when posters of fairness, respect and honesty are displayed and the actions of the leaders do not follow suit, poor company culture is always result. Employees look at leaders and think, Your actions speak so loud, I can’t hear what you’re saying!
The leaders job is to build a culture that results in healthy pride. A sense of patriotism towards the company. When leaders truly care and take an active interest in their employees, creativity and innovation will be the result.
The Walt Disney organization has a formula that looks like this…
Culture = Behavior
Behavior = Results
therefore…
Culture = Results
How you behave matters!

ACTION PLAN: Approach people who have always been straight with you in the past and ask them, “what behaviors do you observe for me that are positive and what behaviors should I improve?”
