Make it Special – A Testament to My Wife!
Wednesday, December 5, 2018 - Joe Kiedinger
Six months ago, I wrote a “Wisdom on Wednesday” honoring the Ronald McDonald House. I even provided a picture of my weary self, sitting with Ronald outside his house last May. That was one of the most frightening weeks of my life. If you missed it, over Memorial Day weekend, I was pulling my two oldest girls, Alina and Aria, on an inner tube behind our pontoon boat. Aria fell off just so, severely damaging her spleen. She was airlifted to Marshfield Clinic hours later.
The doctor told us she would be fully healed in six months. Well, here we are six months later. Aria came down for breakfast and my lovely wife, Danica, had printed out a small celebratory message: “Happy Spleen Day!” She loved it, along with the added attention. It reminded her how loved she is and how everyone is giving a heavy sigh of relief that everything went as well as humanly possible. She pulled through to a full recovery. Her mom and I will never take that event for granted. We will never take her recovery for granted. We are so thankful and will always be thankful that she, and all our children, are happy and healthy.
My wife is so amazing at taking time to celebrate people and milestones. It’s her thoughtfulness that makes life so fulfilling. Thank you, Danica, for staying strong through the injury and keeping us all optimistic and hopeful for the future.
