It’s What’s Holding You Back!

Would you be surprised to hear that your own worst enemy lives much closer to home than you’d ever imagined? That enemy is not just in your town or your neighborhood. He’s not just in your home, but in your very own mind. More than anyone or anything else—you’re the one holding yourself back in life.
There’s some truth to the old image of an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. We all have a negative, doubting voice inside of us that criticizes. That voice is your enemy. I just so happen to call mine, Freddy. (Think, Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street).
Often, it’s that negative voice within us that does the most damage in our lives—though we’d like to point fingers and place blame on others. To do its job, your enemy uses an arsenal of weapons to keep you in a place of doubt and negativity.
One of the most common of these weapons is anger. When your enemy uses this weapon, you get the instant gratification of revenge, self-justification and being right. But what else happens when anger is unleashed? Long-term damage. Your relationships may be strained or end altogether. Opportunities are lost as the people you’ve offended spread the word of your anger. And your body takes a beating from the dangerous stress chemicals that have been released.
Don’t be fooled by these weapons. They tempt and tease, but backfire every time.
